On Monday, we noted of Nicole’s Academy Gala look, “It’s well-made and it’s elegant and it’s also very straightforward and a little dull. But she just lost her mother, so I also understand not wanting to show up to this in something utterly wacky.” I feel like she read that and thought, “You know what? Maybe wacky would cheer me up a bit.” I absolutely support that and I hope this Bottega Veneta did. It is highly whimsical and it IS fun on her.

And the skirt — which I honestly love even though it is a bit kooky — might be…ribbons? It sort of looks like scratch paper but do people even USE scratch paper anymore? I guess that doesn’t matter if it’s being used as a skirt anyway. Either way: I hope she had fun in it.
