Katrantzou’s pieces are generally very architectural and heavy on pattern, and this show is no exception; a lot of them feel influenced by a decorative arts exhibit, or a spin through Buckingham Palace. We say it a lot, and I’ll repeat it: London’s fashion week may have been late to the game, but it’s attracting a lot of experimental designers who perhaps find Paris a bit stuffier and New York a bit too… shall we say commercial, even if that’s not the right word? There seems to be more fin in taking big swings in London, even if you also miss.
