First off, I am VERY aware that Mad About You is back — on Spectrum, which is my cable company, and which has its own channel — because ads for it air nearly constantly during the panoply of sports that I watch throughout the week. I must say that, judging solely from the ads, everyone’s comic timing looks stellar. The real question for me, of course, is whether they’ve managed to lure Lisa Kudrow back (for you sweet youngs, Lisa Kudrow played Phoebe’s twin sister Ursula Buffay on Mad About You BEFORE Friends even existed). I’m not sure that I’m going to watch, but everyone does look competent on it, and sometimes that is all you need.
Second: I am watching Project Runway this season — its return to Bravo has been excellent; it really does feel like the show of yore, and I recommend it — and this week, someone asked Nina Garcia if chokers were back. “Not to my knowledge,” she sniffed, with delicious distain. For goodness sake, will SOMEONE PLEASE LET HELEN KNOW!
