It sounds like the new Elle series on Amazon is a Legally Blonde prequel — that’s how Reese Witherspoon describes its development — but the company sometimes markets it as Elle: From The World of Legally Blonde, which KIND OF sounds like they’re trying to say, “Listen, it’s BASICALLY the same but if some stuff doesn’t add up, just roll with it.” My concern about this is that any prequel that makes Elle more self-aware would fundamentally change the person she is when the movie begins. And I don’t know if I believe THAT Elle went to high school in Seattle (this is a fish-out-of-water story), especially because that also might have taught her certain lessons that she apparently forgot at California University in Los Angeles. Not to be confused with just plain old California University, which is where the 90210 kids went, and oh my God, though, what if Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh are ALSO part of the World of Legally Blonde?!? Can we retrofit this?
