I am VERY curious how the chemistry is with these two, because I would not have predicted them as rom-com co-stars, and — if I may pull up my chair and get serious — I actually have a little trouble with him in roles that aren’t Ted Lasso’s Roy Kent. It isn’t that I don’t think he can act; I just can’t get used to his actual voice and tone and it almost comes across like he’s not being sincere, when he’s really just NOT being Roy Kent. It’s complicated. Anyway, Brett co-wrote this, and he definitely has a good track record with that, so we’ll see. I will be seated, for better or worse, and I don’t even know which one I’m rooting for more.
But I also need to discuss how much I hate this step-and-repeat set. It looks like an incredibly cheap set from a 1980s nighttime soap, which I will warmly accept only if you ARE a 1980s nighttime soap.
