I’ve been getting served clips of Lily Reinhart and Tom Bateman talking about The Love Hypothesis for MONTHS AND MONTHS now, to the point where I assumed it had already come out and I’d missed it. Not so! Hopefully for their sake I’m the only one who was under this impression. Lili’s contribution to the cause is to leave the house in two bright outfits, and it’s a good plan. This purple dress is a 2001 Emanuel Ungaro, and while she did surprisingly little with it, she also didn’t really NEED to — it’s eye-catching on its own, sexy and sweet at the same time.

I didn’t finish Riverdale so I don’t know if Betty ever took her retro-doll style to a sexy place, but if she did, this would be it. (She DID end up in a polyamorous relationship with Veronica and Jughead and Archie, I believe, although that doesn’t have anything to do with her skirt length.) Unfortunately, everything here is hitting the same note: tiny and cropped, as if the only place she could find an outfit was the Nordstrom juniors section. I know the skirt looks faintly like a wallpaper sample she wrapped around her waist, but I’d keep it as the focal point and change up everything above it, although you could make an argument for the reverse — perhaps by employing a pair of skinny pants in the vein of the Pink Ladies. Just as long as she doesn’t let any boy talk her into an old bunker. Note to the men: If you have to pretend it’s nuclear war in order to trick your girlfriend into considering having sex with you, it’s a lost cause and you should stop being a creep.
