Dolly Parton got gussied up last night for the first concert in the “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs In Symphony” series, which is reportedly a multimedia presentation that will tour and pair her music with local orchestras. I love this idea — it’s a way for her to tour even though she no longer tours; evidently she’ll appear on video — and I am transfixed by her glittery sliver gown. Given the title of the event, I think it’s apt that she has actual threads swinging around the skirt. And I also want to give her a hug, because this long-planned premiere comes when she recently lost her husband and she still came out and gave everyone Full Parton. That cannot have been easy when her story just added a sad chapter. We love you, Dolly! Thank you for being a force of good.
