Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is a movie I absolutely missed the first time around, but found on cable — where it pops up too infrequently nowadays for me to be as conversant with it as I am with so many other flicks of that era. There are some weird bits, some truly funny bits, and some hard-to-watch bits because they pick at high-school scabs, but it’s one of my favorite types of stories: a rom-com where the “rom” is the love of two best friends. I wish I’d had better shots of the fizzy costumes available, but there’s enough of a sampling, plus a cameo from Miss Chenandler Bong at the end.
