We got a great Kirsten Dunst spread recently in Marie Claire, but she wasn’t done: Variety, S Magazine, and GQ Hype all also just did shoots with her, some of which are truly super and will have you fawning over her general loveliness. On that tip, we’ll start with the Variety one, because that’s the one I have; it’s a little sedate, but I think its simplicity is stunning. Her natural makeup look is flawless, and I mean… her face. Her skin. The light pink is gorgeous on her. It all works. And it’s interesting reading about her early career; I think she ended up on a really healthy path in part because she paired up with Sofia Coppola the way she did. Check out this anecdote about what she did instead of American Beauty:

Dunst instead took on a lead role in Coppola’s “The Virgin Suicides,” an offbeat, sexually charged coming-of-age story. “I was very nervous,” Dunst says. “Because there’s a sequence where I’m making out with all these boys on a roof of the house. [Sofia] was like, ‘Don’t worry. You don’t have to make out with any of them. Just cover your hair and nestle into their neck. We’ll make it all work.’”

That is unbelievably CORRECT of Sofia. I cannot imagine many directors supporting and shielding their actors in that way; it’s really impressive that Sofia was out there offering her safer-feeling alternatives and not only knowing the movie would be just fine, but reassuring her lead actress that this was true.

I really like this next shoot:

I wish Instagram would let me pick which photo I embed in a carousel, but alas, it won’t. So PLEASE promise me you will visit slide 4, either by leafing through or by clicking here. I absolutely love it and believe it to be perfection. (Also, in slide 5, she’s stuck in the same Miu Miu undies that Marie Claire put her in, which must have been weird.)

Considering that outfit is not my cup of tea, I also love this? Her face looks phenomenal. She’s very connected. I ALSO adore the second and third shots in that gallery (link for those who can’t see Instagram). It’s a whole glut of Dunst content, but magically, it only makes me want more. And that’s an especial credit to her when you consider how much I don’t think I can see Civil War, because puts a pit of existential dread in my stomach. No matter. I’ll catch her in whatever she does next. But… I agree with her that it doesn’t need to be a direct Bring It On sequel. Let some perfect things stay in their perfect place in time.
