I’ve been a little worried about famous faces popping up in the new Star Wars movies, because there’s something so special about the way we got to know Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford in the original trilogy. So I loved resting The Force Awakens on newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who more than met the task, and with The Last Jedi it’s Kelly Marie Tran’s turn. I cannot imagine how thrilling and surreal and life-changing that is, and apparently she couldn’t keep it all inside.

She also got emotional with one of the producers:

I think that is incredibly sweet, and human, and honestly a bit refreshing. It has to be hard to keep one’s cool at these moments, and I love that she just went with it and let it hit her. We made a comment in The Royal We about how rarely in life you can stop and take stock in the moment your life is changing, because too often you don’t realize you’re standing in that moment. She clearly did, and good for her for giving life to the feelings. She’ll never forget it.
