It’s really saying something that I still have such fondness for houndstooth. The University of Alabama considers it a third official “color” because of a hat favored by legendary coach Bear Bryant, and when my sister and I met up at the Notre Dame vs. Alabama championship game in 2013, we stood in a sea of it as our boys got utterly thumped and a ten-year old kid behind us wept. So! The pattern has a lot of charm if it can overcome THAT memory. Now, Alison Brie’s bodysuit underneath it is lacking in the charisma department for me; it looks like an old movie trope — the thing she wore to seduce somebody into doing her mischievous bidding, except the jacket blew open. I wish for a full blouse, or just a simple cami.

It’s a lot, but in a delightfully kitschy way. She looks jaunty and chic, two adjectives people probably would not have imagined using on Pamela Anderson not so long ago. I am so pleased.
