This film is apparently based on a book of the same name, and yes it IS about Clicquot as in Veuve Clicquot and the heroine is a widow. (Until I looked this up, I thought “the widow Clicquot” might be a clever title for a film about a young woman’s experience working for a drama-filled champagne bar or something.) For me, this ensemble is…a bit on the nose, and also has me very concerned that the next new trend in youthful hair is Victorian in nature. I guess it has been a while since everyone wore random clusters of ringlets over their ears. We should have known it was coming. Just please promise me hair jewelry isn’t coming back, too.
