Apple and CBS All-Access are giving me fits, because both have interesting-seeming concepts brewing, but I am getting weary of all these disparate streaming services – especially ones tied to networks who just want to squeeze more money out of us all (ahem, CBS). Dickinson is one of Apple’s upcoming offerings, a period piece about Emily with a modern bent, and I can’t tell if it looks good but I DO know that I would be willing to check it out if only Apple would buddy up to Netflix. Sigh. But, Hailee Steinfeld is exec-producing it, and I am totally in favor of all the actresses who are taking the reins on their own projects. Remember how people used to laugh anytime an actor or actress got designs outside their perceived station? Being a hyphenate was laughed off, and now it’s the norm. That’s positive change, at least.
