I am very delighted to be hosting this giveaway. I read this book over the summer, and it is really, really good; told in duel timelines (one moving forward in time, the other moving backward) it is, essentially, the story of a friend break-up. It is still fairly rare to see a book treat a platonic relationship with the same seriousness that we treat romantic ones, but I think we all have, or have had, friends whom we love as truly as we have our romantic partners — even if that love is in a different category. (I do think this is one of the reasons that Anne of Green Gables is so beloved; Diana is as important to the story, if not arguably more important, than Gilbert Blythe is.) Anyway, this book is really very funny and thoughtful and full of feelings — and, not for nothing, also has one of the best book boyfriends I’ve read recently. It comes out on Tuesday, but we have one copy to give away! (This is an affiliate link to Amazon, but of course you can also find the book at B&N, or at your local indie bookstore.)

THE TASK:  As usual, I’ll be picking the winners at random. To enter, please comment and share your favorite friend-centric piece of pop culture (music, play, TV, movie, whatever).

THE RULES: All entries must be posted in the comments of this post by 9 p.m. Pacific time on Tuesday, January 7th. FYI, if this is the first time you’ve commented here, the system will automatically kick you into comment moderation, but don’t worry, I will rescue you.  (Open to US readers only; all prizing courtesy of the publisher. We use affiliate links when available.)
