Hello! Things are still a real shitshow here. I hope you are okay.

Anne Helen Petersen put together an excellent post at her Substack called How to Help People in LA *Right Now.* The short answer is, honestly, money. At the moment, most places are overwhelmed with tangible donations (which is generous and wonderful and I think the need for them will be greater in a few months when people have moved into their housing situations/start to rebuild and need, like, garden hoses and coffee tables and roofs.). Anyway. It’s been a nightmare, I don’t even know what to say. Everyone knows someone who lost everything. My mom’s best friend lost her house. My gynecologist lost her house. My hairdresser lost her house. The owner of my favorite used bookstore lost his house. It sucks! The vibes are real bad.

Sorry for being a bummer.

Over at Drinks With Broads: We opened comments for everyone for a vast and wide-ranging Get a Recommendation/ Give a Recommendation post. Heather also reviewed Nickel Boys. We caught you up on where we left everyone on Severance in advance of today’s season two premiere (and indulged some theories). We also covered The Pitt, checked in on The Traitors, and I presented….a truly WILD and VERY UNPREDICTABLE turn of events in, er, Italian soccer falconry.

Also: We were on two podcasts this week: Anne Helen Petersen’s Culture Study, to talk about, what else, gossip! You can listen to that here. Then, Heather was the guest on Extra Hot Great to talk about The Pitt for their latest episode.

The news about Bob Uecker is a bummer — even if he was 90! My Brewers fan husband is very sad, but it’s a sad day for baseball fans in general. (And people who love Mr. Belvedere, or Miller Lite ads.) What a character.

We also lost David Lynch on Thursday! This year sucks! I cannot tell you how much Twin Peaks CONSUMED ME when I was in high school. I’m still scared of Bob. [The Ringer]
