If I didn’t know better, I’d think these covers were featuring an actual model. They’re really striking without trying to be blandly pretty — as it should be, on the cover of an alleged high-fashion magazine. The styling feel legit; the photos have action and life to them, and an actual point of view. The best way I can describe it is to say that they feel like real fashion magazine covers; perhaps our final remaining print magazines have decided to go out with a bang and stop trying to appeal to everyone anymore.

The profile is nice piece about Goth — about whom I actually did know very little; I didn’t even realize (or remember), somehow, that she and Shia LaBeouf had a child — who seems thoughtful and interesting, if fiercely private (which is probably for the best). A lot of times this cover profiles are reduced to being, essentially, like “Introducing…REESE WITHERSPOON!” or someone else you already know a lot about, because the subject doesn’t want to get too personal and the reporter is forced to keep it surface level. But this one actually does serve a purpose; I imagine a lot of Elle readers actually DON’T know a lot about Mia Goth. It’s a good intro.

I believe this is the subscribers cover:

This is also a good cover! It feels like a real fashion magazine and not just A Celebrity in a Field or A Celebrity Jumping or A Celebrity Standing in Front of Something With Visual Interest.
