Encanto is coming out Nov. 24 — I assume that’s in time for Thanksgiving weekend — and I guess Disney decided to get a 21-day jump on that by throwing a big bash in Los Angeles. (Maybe this gives them space to go around the world?) Set in Colombia, it’s the story of a girl who is the only one in her family not to have magical powers, but she’s the one who has to save the day when Plot Things Happen. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music, and Stephanie Beatriz is the lead, so she sings most of them — a thing I did not know she did. People truly contain multitudes.
