I had no idea that there is an opera based on Dead Man Walking (with a libretto by Terrence McNally, no less). It’s been kicking around since 2000, though, and was supposed to be performed in New York two years ago in the Covid-cancelled season. It is BACK NOW, premiering last night with a host of celebrity guests — Rebecca Hall and her Sexy Robber Baron, Anne Hathaway, Angela Bassett, and more — but the one that made me stop and go HELLO was Marcia Gay Harden in this knockout of a gown. What a dish.
