Given that this is the Earthshot Prize, with an eye on environmentalism, I was admittedly surprised Cate Blanchett didn’t go with one of her signature re-wears, or perhaps one of her outfits that repurposes deadstock or changes aspects of an existing dress. Instead, she wore a new Stella McCartney suit. Obviously, she’s allowed to wear new things sometimes! I’m not MAD about it; this just seemed like the context in which I expected to see the other approach. That said, Stella is widely recognized as one of the most sustainable lines and has been way ahead of the industry on that, so the effect is similar. But is anyone else wondering if flying people to a fancy environmentalism event defeats the purpose?
