This was all set to be a post that just covered Riccardo Tisci’s past and present — Givenchy, the label he once ran, and Burberry, the one he’s in charge of now (to extremely disappointing effect). Then Cara Delevingne sauntered in wearing no shirt, and I wasn’t sure where to put her, the lone — as of the initial writing — Dior representative at the Gala. As I mulled it, Nicki Minaj arrived in a Burberry dress whose fit was so poor that she had one of the four people around her helping tug it back up every time she moved, and she occasionally gave up and stood with her arms across her chest. And so a juxtaposition was born. Nicki never fully busted out of this, but she came so dangerously close that she actually interrupted her Vogue interview when she caught herself on camera, wondered if she was flashing everyone, and leaned into the mic to say that she was very grateful but that, yes, they made the dress cups way too small. She was polite, and seemed more amused and resigned than embarrassed or anything, but… You’re telling me NONE of those four bodyguards — or anyone else on the premises, including Riccardo himself, who was standing next to her — had a jacket to loan her? It might even have looked cute.

Anyway, after all those logistical hoops, some more Dior wearers showed up so now they’re in here, too. My flow is officially jacked.
