We discussed in the chat yesterday how WONDERFUL it was to see veteran women out there looking strong, and physically AND mentally AND emotionally supported by their coaches and each other, and not secretly 14 or looking as if they are being tortured (as always, I hope both Karolyis currently have hangnails on every finger and some infected ingrown hairs they cannot find). Simone is 27, Rebeca Andrade is 25, and Suni Lee is 21; Alice D’Amato in fourth is 21, and Ellie Black of Canada finished 6th at age 28. Between that and Sarah Sjöström of Sweden who is clearly a dried-up husk of a woman at 30 and yet still just won swimming gold, it’s super to see athletes FINALLY redefining the sporting perception of Ancient.
