So the Emmys are ALLEGEDLY going to happen on September 18th. But last I heard, if the writer’s strike wasn’t sorted by like…this week? Or something?….they were going to push them to November. And, of course, SAG might decide to strike as early as today (I believe). So here are your nominations but the ceremony itself feels very up in the air. YET WE SOLDIER ON!

Additionally, I hope Jessica Chastain buys this photo and frames it in her home.

With no further ado:

Outstanding Drama Series
Andor
Better Call Saul
The Crown
House of the Dragon
The Last of Us
Succession
The White Lotus
Yellowjackets

This is a pretty strong slate of dramas and also reminds me that the Emmys are VERY much the final awards show on the circuit, which is why you’re going to keep thinking things like “I thought we did this for Better Call Saul already.” Anyway, I’d be happy with at least half of these winning although I am sure it will be Succession or The White Lotus, both of which are on the list of ones I’d be happy about. (But Andor might deserve it?) The Crown is totally in the “we always nominate this one and it’s expensive and British so this feels right” slot nowadays, and House of the Dragon feels like the “they spent how much?” nominee.

Outstanding Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary
Barry
The Bear
Jury Duty
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Only Murders In The Building
Ted Lasso
Wednesday

I enjoy all of these that I’ve seen, although several of them are past their best-buy dates. (I saw someone on Twitter yelping that Lasso is so tired, but….it’s the Emmys. They are notorious for getting stuck in a nomination rut.) I will note that I truly do not think Barry is a comedy anymore and this seems like a good place to note that I actually hated its final season! (Although it was very well done on a technical level.)

Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series
Beef
Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Daisy Jones & the Six
Fleishman Is In Trouble
Obi-Wan Kenobi

This is a real melange! It has to be Fleishman, right? (Which I admittedly have not seen simply because I didn’t get around to it. My hot take is that there is too much TV for either the business or our bodies to sustain.)

Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Jeff Bridges, The Old Man
Brian Cox, Succession
Kieran Culkin, Succession
Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul
Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us
Jeremy Strong, Succession

This is a hot category and also I just realized I told my boyfriend as he headed out the door this morning that Pedro Pascal got nominated for The Mandalorian, which DID seem unlikely.

Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Melanie Lynskey, Yellowjackets
Elisabeth Moss, The Handmaid’s Tale
Bella Ramsey, The Last of Us
Keri Russell, The Diplomat
Sarah Snook, Succession

I forgot The Handmaid’s Tale was still happening, no disrespect to my beloved Peggy Olsen.

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Bill Hader, Barry
Jason Segel, Shrinking
Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building
Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso
Jeremy Allen White, The Bear

I presume Jeremy Allen White will continue his triumphant circuit here and also good for him! I haven’t watched that yet, but I was at a bar the other weekend, where a lot of Youthful Hipsters hang out and I heard one girl say to the other that he’s very hot in it and she Google Image searched him and showed a photo. The Other Hipster Girl literally said, “THAT guy?” and the first girl yelped, “you just HAVE TO WATCH IT OKAY?”

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Christine Applegate, Dead to Me
Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary
Natasha Lyonne, Poker Face
Jenna Ortega, Wednesday

I feel like Quinta can probably just make room on her mantel right now, yes?

Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Taron Egerton, Black Bird
Kumail Nanjiani, Welcome to Chippendales
Evan Peters, Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Daniel Radcliffe, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
Michael Shannon, George & Tammy
Steven Yeun, Beef

Please join me and Heather in lighting a candle for DanRad and the DELIGHTFUL DELIGHT that was Weird.

Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Lizzy Caplan, Fleishman Is In Trouble
Jessica Chastain, George & Tammy
Dominique Fishback, Swarm
Kathryn Hahn, Tiny Beautiful Things
Riley Keough, Daisy Jones & the Six
Ali Wong, Beef

I’m pulling for Dominique Fishback to upset because I just saw the new Transformers movie (leave me alone) and she’s so charming in it; also props to the Transformers people for making another movie where the girl lead doesn’t have a heaving bosom the entire time or in fact at all. I assume the leader here is Lizzy Caplan unless people do the “eh, Jessica Chastain is always good” routine. This is exciting for Riley Keough, also — she’s had a tough year on the personal front.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
F. Murray Abraham, The White Lotus
Nicholas Braun, Succession
Michael Imperioli, The White Lotus
Theo James, The White Lotus
Matthew Macfayden, Succession
Alan Ruck, Succession
Will Sharpe, The White Lotus
Alexander Skarsgård, Succession

There are only two drama series on TV in which men support. In all seriousness, all these people were excellent, although I’d note that I don’t think Nicholas Braun had very much to do in this season of Succession. I’d honestly be tempted to give this to A.Skars, who was so weird and skittery and good in Succession, but it’s got to go to Macfayden, right? (Who is honestly almost a lead in Succession to me but I bet he submitted in Supporting because he thinks he has a better chance of winning here, and I suspect that’s right.)

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Jennifer Coolidge, The White Lotus
Elizabeth Debicki, The Crown
Meghann Fahy, The White Lotus
Sabrina Impacciatore, The White Lotus
Aubrey Plaza, The White Lotus
Rhea Seehorn, Better Call Saul
J. Smith-Cameron, Succession
Simona Tabasco, The White Lotus

Look, Coolidge is absolutely winning this. I love her in that part, and in general, and I don’t have an issue with it but technically I think Meghann Fahy is better in White Lotus and also Rhea Seehorn probably deserves it over both of them.

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Anthony Carrigan, Barry
Phil Dunster, Ted Lasso
Brett Goldstein, Ted Lasso
James Marsden, Jury Duty
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Bear
Tyler James Williams, Abbott Elementary
Henry Winkler, Barry

LET IT BE MARSDEN!!!

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Alex Borstein, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Ayo Edebiri, The Bear
Janelle James, Abbott Elementary
Sheryl Lee Ralph, Abbott Elementary
Juno Temple, Ted Lasso
Hannah Waddingham, Ted Lasso
Jessica Williams, Shrinking

I truly believe this should go to Janelle James, who is a comedic genius and whose scenes on Abbott I regularly rewind immediately to watch twice. (SLR is also obviously a goddess, but she won last year.)

Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Murray Bartlett, Welcome to Chippendales
Paul Walter Hauser, Black Bird
Richard Jenkins, Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Joseph Lee, Beef
Ray Liotta, Black Bird
Young Mazino, Beef
Jesse Plemons, Love & Death

I have seen none of these! Paul Walter Hauser has taken all of these thus far, though — although giving a posthumous award to Ray Liotta might be tough for voters to resist.

Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
Annaleigh Ashford, Welcome to Chippendales
Maria Bello, Beef
Claire Danes, Fleishman is in Trouble
Juliette Lewis, Welcome to Chippendales
Camila Morrone, Daisy Jones & the Six
Niecy Nash-Betts Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Merritt Wever: Tiny Beautiful Things

I assume this is Claire Danes’s to take, although it would be delightful to see Camila Morrone, who is wonderful in DJ&T6 sneak off with it. I am also a Niecy Nash-Betts stan — although maybe not much of one given that I did not know she was in that Dahmer miniseries — and always support her success.

Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Murray Barlett, The Last of Us
James Cromwell, Succession
Lamar Johnson, The Last of Us
Arian Moayed, Succession
Nick Offerman, The Last of Us
Keivonn Montreal Woodward, The Last of Us

This has to be going to Murray Barlett, right? (I will note that I love Arian Moayed and think he is very hot but he did nothing in Succession this last season and even he has to be like, “really?!?!?!? Well, thanks!!” about this.)

Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Hiam Abbass, Succession
Cherry Jones, Succession
Melanie Lynskey, The Last of Us
Storm Reid, The Last of Us
Anna Torv, The Last of Us
Harriet Walter, Succession

If you are in Succession, you WILL be nominated for an Emmy. Anyone in Succession who didn’t get nominated for an Emmy is making an angry phone call to their agent right now. I haven’t seen The Last of Us but YAY MELANIE LYNSKEY for getting TWO nominations this year.

Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Bernthal, The Bear
Luke Kirby, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Nathan Lane, Only Murders in the Building
Pedro Pascal, Saturday Night Live
Oliver Platt, The Bear
Sam Richardson, Ted Lasso

This season of Ted Lasso was uneven and I’d actually have given it to Sam Richardson for the first time he was on it, but I might actually vote for him here if I were a voter. I might also vote for Jon Bernthal simply because he is hot, and Nathan Lane just because I love Only Murders and none of the other actors snuck in. (WAIT I LIED, Martin Short made it; Steve Martin did not. My bad!!) Congrats to Pedro Pascal ALSO for nabbing two noms!

Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
Becky Ann Baker, Ted Lasso
Quinta Brunson, Saturday Night Live
Taraji P. Henson, Abbott Elementary
Judith Light, Poker Face
Sarah Niles, Ted Lasso
Harriet Walter, Ted Lasso

Congrats to Harriet Walter ALSO ALSO for getting two nominations! I truly think Harriet Walter is perfect in everything and should be cast in everything. Make her the new host of The Bachelorette. Having said that, Taraji P. Henson was sooooooo funny on Abbott this season.

Outstanding Competition Program
The Amazing Race
RuPaul’s Drag Race
Survivor
Top Chef
The Voice

Somehow, I’ve ONLY seen Survivor and Amazing Race of these; I have like 10000 Top Chefs on my DVR right now.  I haven’t watched Drag Race in ages but would probably vote for it, just to stick it to the far right. (It appears my voting strategy, if I were an Academy member, would be kind of all over the place.) All of these seem fine to me; even The Voice is probably deserving for being a live show and ergo tricksy to produce every week.

Host for a Competition Program
Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Queer Eye
Nicole Byer, Nailed It!
Amy Pohler, Maya Rudolph, Baking It
RuPaul, RuPaul’s Drag Race

I do love Nicole Byer.

Outstanding Variety Talk Series
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Late Night with Seth Meyers
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
The Problem with Jon Stewart

Sure! Whatever! I don’t watch late night shows anymore but my friend Marissa loves Seth and I assume everyone else is still good!!

Outstanding Variety Sketch Series
A Black Lady Sketch Show
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
Saturday Night Live

I mean, it’s always SNL, right?

Outstanding Variety Special (Live)
The Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Starring Rihanna
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage
Elton John: Farewell from Dodger Stadium
The Oscars
75th Annual Tony Awards

It’s always funny to me when The Oscars win an Emmy because it just feels like the snake eating itself. (I do think all of these seem like they were tough to pull off well!)

Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-recorded)
Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter
John Mulaney: Baby J
Lizzo: Live in Concert
Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music
Trevor Noah: I Wish You Would
Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer

I’d like to go to a dinner party with all these people.

Outstanding Animated Program
Bob’s Burgers
Intergalactic
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal
Rick and Morty
The Simpsons

I do not watch any animated programing but I welcome your takes here.

Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program
Indian Matchmaking
RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked
Selling Sunset
Vanderpump Rules
Welcome to Wrexham

SERIOUSLY JUSTICE FOR VANDERPUMP RULES. I am not kidding, VPR absolutely deserves it this season for turning on a dime, last minute, and covering a major breaking real life scandal after their cameras and production had already gone down. They were also nominated for editing and also deserve that one.

Outstanding Television Movie
Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas
Fire Island
Hocus Pocus 2
Prey

I am sure it wasn’t the best of these but don’t we want Dolly to thrive in all things?

Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special
Being Mary Tyler Moore
Judy Blume Forever
My Transparent Life
Pamela, A Love Story
Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie

I heard all of these were good! We are running into areas where I have no opinion that I can back up with having seen things!

Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series
Dear Mama
100 Foot Wave
Secrets of the Elephants
The 1619 Project
The U.S. and the Holocaust

What I just said about documentary specials!

Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series
Beau Willimon, “One Way Out,” Andor
Sharon Horgan, Dave Finkel, Brett Baer, “The Prick,” Bad Sisters
Gordon Smith, “Point and Shoot,” Better Call Saul
Peter Gould, “Saul Gone,” Better Call Saul
Jesse Armstrong, “Connor’s Wedding,” Succession
Mike White, “Arrivederci,” The White Lotus

These are all very deserving; I actually think Andor should take this one. That episode was exceptional.

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series
Bill Hader, “wow,” Barry
Christopher Storer, “System,” The Bear
Mekki Leeper, “Ineffective Assistance,” Jury Duty
John Hoffman, Matteo Borghese, Rob Turbovsky, “I Know Who Did It,” Only Murders in the Building
Chris Kelly, Sarah Schneider, “Cary & Brooke Go To An AIDS Play,” The Other Two
Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jason Sudeikis, “So Long, Farewell,” Ted Lasso

AGAIN BARRY IS REALLY NOT COMEDIC ANYMORE. I’m surprised Abbott didn’t get in here.

Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series or Anthology Series or Movie
Lee Sung Jin, “The Birds Don’t Sing, They Screech in Pain,” Beef
Joel Kim Booster, Fire Island
Taffy Brodesser-Akner, “Me-Time,” Fleishman Is In Trouble
Patrick Aison, Dan Trachtenberg, Prey
Janine Nabers, Donald Glover, Swarm
Al Yankovic, Eric Appel, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Good for Taffy B-A — I assume that’s the episode where Claire Danes is doing her primal screaming. But yet again WEIRD AL IS A TREAT.

You can see the rest of the nominations, like casting and whatnot, here at Deadline. Let’s discuss!
