Hunter Schafer stumped for Blade Runner 2099 at New York’s Comic-con, in a Prada getup that is hot off the runway from a show that had tons of cute skirts and questionable bra tops. That is basically exactly my assessment here. I do NOT care for the clompy shoes – also, a personal bias of mine is against shoes that leave that much of your toes hanging out the front; can’t help it – but that skirt is excellent. The top, however… well, it fits. It’s totally discordant for me with the skirt, in a way that almost spoils it, but I see those thick blocky black strokes and they evoke a cartoonist sitting down and doing the telltale lettering on one of their strips. Still, it’s two outfits in one, to me. In the real world, you’d pull these pieces apart and given them each their own platform.
Speaking of platforms:
I refer not to the one on which they sit, but to the thick bottoms on Michelle Yeoh’s Louboutins. Those red soles seem great until you actually wear the shoes, at which point you’d probably rather people don’t realize what a premium you’re paying for a hallmark that scrapes off with a quickness.
