Smart money is on Zendaya wearing something blue to her next event for The Drama, because she has worn something old, something new, and now something borrowed: a black Armani that Cate Blanchett donned twice, in 2022 and 2025. And one that’s been pinned for years to the top of her stylist Elizabeth Stewart’s Instagram, although that might just be because she thinks the picture is funny. Still! Clearly, it’s a dress they treasure, and yet they were willing to play ball. Wisely. No one is going to upstage Cate in anything, but Zendaya — who has her own form of Carte Blanchett — is more then capable of keeping up with her and will always respect the dress:
Playing with that adage is a fun spin on the wedding theme — more so than just bridal white all the time, although Team Z is doing a bit of that, too, per a few other pics I’ve only seen in Law’s stories. It would have been MORE fascinating if they’d just randomly hit upon the idea of borrowing a dress from another actress, but it’s still inspired, especially calling up one who’s made it a point to take a more sustainable approach to red-carpet fashion– and it’s a much more comfortable way to get attention for your movie than, say, showing up as a robot. It’s also interesting to me that neither woman did anything particularly intense with it, vis a vis styling; they let the dress do most of the talking. Well, and now the Internet.
Also: This movie has not even come out yet, so please, refrain from making references to spoilers in the comments, even winky oblique ones. They are never as oblique as one may think. People should have a chance to stay unspoiled safely for a little while, especially before the thing even hits theaters. Thank you!
