Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in the United States, a holiday which has also been designated a national Day of Service since 1994. As they put it over at Americorps, “[o]bserved each year on the third Monday in January as ‘a day on, not a day off,’ MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.” I’m sure it looks very different today, due to the pandemic, than it has in years past but I thought today might be a good time for folks to share what they’re doing (or have done in the past/plan to do in the future) to volunteer in their communities — not only today, but in general. Inspire us!
