So, obviously, “self care” has turned into kind of a catch-all phrase that loads of companies have leapt on as a way to sell us all more stuff — baths are “self care,” your manicure is “self care,” getting super nice bedding is “self care.” I actually don’t even disagree with this — those are ways to relax and decrease stress, and that’s good for people, and god knows I love a bath. But I kind of like talking about the real unglamorous nitty-gritty ways of taking care of your human form. For example, I am very stressed right now about a deadline and also I am getting over shingles (still, ugh, it takes forever) and I’ve realized that the best way for me to manage my stress AND my health is to get enough gd sleep. This is hard for me because I am by nature a night owl. I don’t have problems falling asleep, but I do have problems actually GOING TO SLEEP. GO THE EFF TO SLEEP, JESSICA. (I could just lie in bed and read a book for hours and hours! Or watch like nine episodes of Harlots in a row!)

I recognize that also I should be exercising but I hate it. It’s so boring. And I don’t want to get into a car and drive to a class. So.

We’ll get there.

But I’m curious: What’s your number one way to not turn into a sick stress-monster?
