Fun fact: Informative Caption reads, “American actress Joan Crawford (1908 – 1977) carving a huge Thanksgiving turkey for a publicity shot. Oddly, movie stars were often requested to strike this pose by their publicists.” It’s not odd. Women were expected to be competently domestic along with everything else and nothing says, “I know I play a ballbuster on screen and having a thriving career but what I really love is to be home in the kitchen” like cooking a massive turkey.
