We saw Dakota Johnson earlier; Chloe is ALSO in Suspiria, Luca Guadagnino’s first film since the adored Call Me By Your Name, and it is… not getting positive reviews. Hard to tell whether it’s genuinely not great, or it’s just the pendulum swinging back after all that award-season adoration — the man made an actor of Armie Hammer, for God’s sake! — and it’ll benefit later from a reverse La-La Land effect, where in a month you get a lot of think pieces from critics that are all, “Why Suspiria Is Actually Fantastic.” I shall have to take everyone’s word for all of it, because I read the reviews, and I am never, ever going to see it. This surreal horror genre is not REMOTELY my bag. I would, indeed, rather shove it into a bag I want to give away, alongside Neon Demon and a couple bricks, and drop it into the sea.
