It’s time to lose yourself in the GOOD things happening on the world stage: sports. We’ve graduated into the second round of group play. Spain nearly didn’t make it past Iran, but a goal was wiped off the board and that was enough. Cristiano Ronaldo is still the only person to have scored for Portugal, netting one very early against Morocco in a 1-0 win. Japan beat Colombia, which felt a bit like a surprise, but nothing was as surprising as Croatia taking it to Argentina. I was going to say that Messi can’t do it alone, but honestly, he wasn’t on the ball at all in the second half; Croatia came out harder and better, and the second goal in the 80th minute felt inevitable. The third, in stoppage time, caught an Argentina team that was just running out the string at that point. They looked wrong-footed and strange most of the game. And Croatia is STOKED.

England plays again Sunday morning, in case you are wondering when I’ll next be screaming.
