There were DEFINITELY celebs in the stands who skipped the photo ops — I saw Serena Williams and her husband at one point — but here’s who we have on camera, between the step-and-repeat and the halftime show. I understand why they did the halftime show, I suppose; it’s VERY American, and we were the host nation that got the finals, so of course our organizers were going to put our stamp on it. But not everything needs our stamp. It doesn’t HURT anyone to have a halftime show, but the 11-minute shindig wasn’t REALLY worth much, either, and in fact, I totally missed it and had to go back and find footage of it on Reddit. They should’ve just had the Muppets watch highlights of the third-place game between England and France.
