With the exception of the infamous mid-thigh stretch bootaloons in a variety of neon shades – -currently most visible on Andrea Riseborough in Fug Madness, but also spied at the Met Gala on both Salma Hayek and Lily Aldredge — we don’t see a ton of Balenciaga at red carpet events anymore. Back in the day it felt like they were always a frontrunner to dress Nicole Kidman, but this collection doesn’t seem particularly zeroed in on that aesthetic, so maybe they’ve just shifted gears over there? Still, there’s a nice floral that recurs, and the parade of layered coats at the end is visually cool and makes me want to go skiing immediately.
