Whenever I think of the Met Gala, in all its glorious excess, the first two dresses that live rent-free in my brain both happen to come from the same year: Rihanna in Guo Pei, and Fan Bingbing in Christopher Bu, both from 2015. When we posted Fan Bingbing’s, Jessica wrote, “To my mind this is neck-and-neck with Rihanna for Best Dressed.” The poll did not quite bear that out — Fan Bingbing won it by 2,000 votes, and no one else was even close to either of them — but there is no loser among them; it is simply which one is MORE then winner, and to me they are both examples of the Gala at its best. I go back and forth on which one I would vote for today if given the chance. So… wait for it, wait for it…
