The honorees at the Kennedy Center this year were Justino Díaz, Berry Gordy, Lorne Michaels, Bette Midler, and Joni Mitchell. Egregiously, they did NOT have Emma Thompson present on behalf of Joni, even though it’s her entire plot in Love, Actually, and a scene that made the emotion of that song click for me because it’s so sad and so well-acted. That movie has issues but Emma stuck the hell out of that landing. Have I digressed enough yet? Yes.
