In case you hadn’t heard, this iteration of The Color Purple is not a remake of the 1985 film adaptation of the book, but an adaptation of the Broadway musical. Fantasia and Danielle Brooks are playing the roles they played in the stage versions, and there are a ton of other people in it, including Halle Bailey, Ciara, Jon Batiste, Deon Cole, H.E.R, Louis Gossett Jr….it’s a totally stacked cast. I (a) am REALLY excited to see this and (b) am THRILLED the strike is resolved, because these premieres will be MAJOR. I think this is just a screening, because it’s just a portion of that cast — although Ciara might not want to travel at this point in her pregnancy, and Louis Gossett Jr is currently filming a new project (this man is 87 years old, how can I get that energy?) — but everyone looks….really good.
