I feel like the annual amfAR gala in Cannes used to draw a starrier crowd — I’m dying for the oral history of this thing during the mid-aughts — and has now sort of devolved into Random Cannes Celebs and Lots of Models. I don’t think anyone from the Cannes jury attended, for example, and amfAR regular auctioneer Sharon Stone didn’t attend this year or last. It’s interesting the way major events like these sometimes sort of lose steam over time; the same thing happened with Elton John’s Oscar party. Hopefully they still raised a lot of money! And, for our purposes….a lot of people did wear something wild, and we did get some LEGIT MODELS.
