As we continue posting on The Day Our Sildeshows Died, I bring to you a series of photos of Rihanna, who is out in full force celebrating her Fenty products and also clearly loving every minute of not hiding her pregnancy anymore. This Attico top could be considered a sports bra with a very very elaborate necklaceplate over it. The pants are similarly ventilated, I think, with coverage only where one might most want it:
There was a time when Rihanna would have worn this without ANY of that padding. (Maybe just a thong.) This is, after all, the woman whose sparkly naked Adam Selman slip is burned on the world’s collective memory. She is one of the most confident women alive. Oh, to move through the world with the certainty that I would not snag a handful of strands and start the fall of the dominoes.
I am never a fan of pants that essentially add and highlight the bum crack. I wonder if this one is giving it all the structural integrity it needs.
This photo gives you a better idea of how it catches the light, and also of the sheer element of the pants. Also, I cannot stress enough how MANY photos there were of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky at this event. Piles of them. There were, I think, more than 725 from this event, and almost all of them are of her, and then there are a small handful of the other guests. It’s quite something. These two appear to be having a ball and frequently do this kind of Prom photo. Here is his full outfit:
He is on the Varsity Denim Shred team at his high school and I’m pretty sure he’s going to win Nationals.
Rihanna also opened a Savage x Fenty store in Culver City, and showed up in the polar opposite style of outfit:
She looks glorious in it. And it manages to fit with a lingerie store opening because if this were a movie, she’d show up at A$AP Rocky’s hotel room and pull this open to reveal that she is wearing something seriously naughty underneath. Rocky (A$AP? Or always A$AP Rocky? I have much to learn) courteously matched his kicks to her coat, and overall looks very dapper indeed.
I’d also like to point out how consistent Rihanna is. She has loved and worn a variety of those Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals for more than a decade, I think? I’m sure she’s replaced them with the new versions or even maybe some knockoffs, but she loves a single strap heel and there she is in some red ones. A few days prior, she had gold, or beige, or… something:
It’s admittedly a little hard to focus on the shoes. Although, what is the benefit of fastening shoes outside one’s pants? Is it… chafing relief? And is that a shirt, or is it really a bra with a peplum? Practically speaking, why wear that shirt with a giant fur coat, and further, why leave the coat open? I guess Rihanna’s world has not only its own rules, but several proprietary and unique climate zones.
