Oscar de la Renta has leaned away from doing runway shows lately, in favor of photo packages or short films — which is a real shame, because the clothes deserve to be SEEN. This event was some kind of fundraiser luncheon shenanigan, where the runway show was rolled into it rather than being an actual Fashion Week presentation, but I’ll take what I can get. You’ll spot Emily Blunt’s SAG dress in here, along with a lot of other truly gorgeous items. It did NOT really have a front row, though; they didn’t go hard at any celebs beyond whoever they were honoring at lunch, I assume? This trifecta was pretty much it:

33rd Annual Colleagues Spring Luncheon and Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show, Arrivals, Los Angeles, California, USA - 25 Apr 2023

Those are great frocks. Everyone looks lovely and respectable and (except for Ali) floral, as if they smell like Woods of Windsor potpourri sachets. But in terms of star-wattage, it’s… moderate. And I don’t mean that as an insult to one of TV’s longest-running lead actresses (hi, Mariska). It’s just that once you’ve seen all the couture houses make it rain to get every level of boldface name in the front row, these other legacy brands start to feel like they’re being left behind, and that’s a real shame. They don’t even have to shoot money out of a cannon at people; I just would love to see them shindig it up. A whole spate of actresses live out here, who would snap up SEVERAL of what’s on this catwalk.

A note about the show: I don’t actually know what order they came out in, so I somewhat randomized it.
