Bless Rachel Brosnahan, who is so lovely and seems like a nice person, but whose team seems to pick things that are just… off. She’s wearing this Miu Miu similarly to how it was styled on the runway, sadly minus what looks like a riding hat, and with silver shoes instead of black. Unfortunately, I do think the black accessories made it all feel like less of a hodge-podge — the grey pants became an accent color, almost, whereas here this is just a stew of four different hues. I wish they’d explored black pants or a pencil skirt or something, with some boots. The runway is just a suggestion! And thank god for THAT, generally speaking.
Maybe she needed something grey because there was a mandate:
It looks LESS random when she’s in a grey sandwich between Superman and Lex. Perhaps they all agreed to match the fake Fortress of Solitude and she just couldn’t resist a hit of red for emphasis. Hard to blame her for THAT.
Somehow, we missed the Fall 2025 Miu Miu Miu show this came from, so if you’re curious about the context of the whole she-bang, I uploaded it for us, and stay tuned for the show notes:
The Miu Miu website serves up the following bonkers word salad about the show: “The Fall/Winter 2025 Miu Miu collection by Miuccia Prada is shaped as an evaluation of the feminine. It is a reflection of and upon the meaning of women, expressed through clothes, that provokes discussion and thought. [IS IT THOUGH? DOES IT? Also on some level isn’t this every show?] Construction invents a shape independent from the figure of the wearer, a shape that sits around and beside the body, regardless of its form. The identification of the feminine is synonymous with the curve, here worked into garments or engineered beneath. Clothes are manipulated, folded, shifted and shaped to curve. [Again, isn’t this just… making stuff?] The power of femininity can transform the fundamentally masculine, clothes freed from confines. Bras contour the body, reshaping outward views; underwear referenced in pointelle knits, satin dresses and bias skirts. There is a tenderness. Attention is drawn to the décolleté, tailoring and collapsed dresses drawn away, revealing the body beneath.”
That’s a lot of letters to say very little and I think it contradicts itself a little. Mostly, I do NOT think anyone would accuse Rachel’s shirt of being all about construction?!? Nor of possessing tenderness? This line will never not confuse me.
