AKA the Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards. Friends, if we’ve returned to a time and place where I find myself thinking, “wait, is this a new awards show?” then things are certainly looking up in terms of events actually happening. (It sort of is; this is its fifth year. But I think they keep changing the name. I personally can’t wait for the eventual oral history of all the many awards shows that tried to sweep into the void left by the Golden Globes. I hope there is some nefarious chicanery!)
