Sunset Boulevard is playing again in London, with an experimental-sounding reboot very different from the more opulent original. Andrew Lloyd Webber really loves Nicole Scherzinger — he’s cast her as Christine Daae AND Grizabella, and now Norma Desmond, and although reviews are up and down, for the most part it sounds like she impressed everybody. This Tony Ward gown, worn to the preview, provides all the glamour that the stage production does not. The sculptural neck, the slash of orange, the diamonds, the makeup, and the sleek updo work together for a flawless sartorial cocktail. With apologies for sounding like an episode of America’s Next Top Model, it’s divatastic.
