The headline of this post is a tribute to Jade from ANTM; the post itself is pretty packed with stuff we still need to discuss, like Hailey Bieber, Kerry Washington, GWYNETH WHY WHAT ARE YOU DOING, and DVF as Lady Liberty. And of course Lena Waithe, pictured above, whose suit jacket none of our three sources managed to photograph from behind, which is insane because that was a huge part of the point:
Lena has been to two Met Galas now and has made it her purpose there to carve out a place for black culture and LGBTQ representation, and messaging about the vital influence of both. She claims the spelling error, “INVENTEND,” was purposeful, but I don’t know if I’ve heard why. Maybe it’s… invents + ends, as in, camp begins and ends with them? I don’t know. She could also be making that up, although I tend to believe her; it seems like a crazy mistake on a night this big. Then again, Game of Thrones left a coffee cup in a scene, so. Her compadre is the designer of both suits, Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss, and he put lyrics from the late Nipsey Hussle on the back of his zoot suit.
