As Heather noted last week in the coverage of this Emily Ratajkowski As Amelia Earhart Situation, Marc Jacobs used to be SUCH A THING and I would argue that he’s still probably considered the preeminent major American designer working in terms of a combination of major name recognition and editorial sensibility. His work is, to my mind, still beautiful and important, but he has truly taken a step back in recent years. I wonder if the NYFW intensities of the mid-aughts was just, ultimately, too much to sustain? NYFW from 2006-2012 was, like…absolute madness. I get maybe wanting to just do your own thing. Let’s look at his newest collection.
