Los Angeles has never been taken especially seriously when it comes to its fashion offerings; L.A. Fashion Week was, charitably, low-fi, and the Daily Front Row Awards are in the same vein. I assume the Fashion Trust U.S. is an attempt to change that. It has some fancy designers on the board, and it’s three years into its award show here, but so far it cannot match New York’s CFDA in terms of star power, or probably funding, or cachet. It did at least manage to get the likes of Kerry Washington and Taraji P. Henson and Mandy Moore — plus a whole passel of others who’ll turn up in our next gallery today — and then of course it also got Julia Fox dressed like an extremely expensive clown. Which is probably exactly what they want.
