You know I’m distracted — by the election, Thanksgiving, the site redesign — by the fact that I TOTALLY FORGOT this event was happening, despite having a Post-It on my desk telling me when to be on Kate Alert. I’m just on…too many alerts right now. But! Here we are, nevertheless (thanks to the fact that I happened to be scrolling Twitter and I saw something from What Kate Wore that made me think, “wait…WHERE IS KATE WEARING THINGS?”). And this dress is super pretty —  it is LK Bennett, and she is really into this shape right now. (It reminds me of the LK Bennett dress she wore when the Obamas popped by for dinner.) It IS a good length for kid-related shenanigans, in that she can kneel down to talk to them safely. I am glad it popped up in front of me on Twitter.

So, Kate’s apparently at the Natural History Museum — one of the prettiest buildings in London, in my humble estimation — to have cake and paint things with small kids, and bid farewell to Dippy the Diplodocus, who is off on a tour of the UK after 111 years in the museum (It’s nice when senior citizens can still get out and see the world).

I mean. That’s a good ceiling.

Also, to eat cake shaped like a dinosaur:

Applaud politely at small adorable children wearing lab coats:

I also look forward to the BREATHLESS SPECULATION in the tabloids about what Kate did to her thumb, requiring this bandage (or, to borrow British parlance, plaster.  As a kid who read a lot of British children’s books, I was very confused about how people in the UK dealt with cuts and scrapes. You stick PLASTER on them? That seemed messy and unhygienic):

I assume she and Wills were opening champagne bottles with the sword he uses to knight people — just another Monday night — and something went awry. Stay safe, Middleton!  Especially since you’ve got another event tonight for us to ogle.
