Well! This is interesting. Ruth used to have a Louis Vuitton deal — and was one of the few stars who I thought regularly wore the brand very well. Several months ago, her long-time stylist Karla Welch said, “I think brands are doing a great disservice when they sign a talent and demand that every single look is by [the brand]… It takes out all of the fun of storytelling, and I think it can often impact both the celeb and the brands in negative ways.” WE’VE BEEN BANGING ON ABOUT THIS FOR MONTHS! I don’t unabashedly love it, simply because I am not a jam of this dropped waist situation we’re seeing all over the place lately — and I would have guessed it was an unusually relaxed Thom Browne, which would ALSO be a great choice for Ruth — but I really like the IDEA of it and I LOVE that, finally, Ruth and her team have more room to play. Bring it on!
