Evidently, Miss Bala is a remake of a Mexican film by the same name — bala is Spanish for bullet — in which there are kidnappings and drug smugglings and spying and table-turning. So, basically all the things you might see on telenovela in a Jane the Virgin but with a lot more gunplay and way less of Rogelio de la Vega.
