There are matches yet to play, but it’s LIKELY we’ve seen all the outfit varieties by now — especially with how often the athletes are changing clothes, thanks to the enormously muggy, hot conditions. I’ve never seen so many tennis players swaddled in icy-wet towels. I genuinely thought Djokovic was going to keel over during one of his early-round matches.

Nike really embraced orange this season, which made this a very pleasant U.S. Open for me and for Dylan, a.k.a. the bean whose closet is 85 percent that color. His favorite football team is Clemson; evidently his dad’s Syracuse — despite being CALLED The Orange — is insufficiently committed to the shade. Wimbledon is my favorite tournament, always and forever, but the flash and color of the Open’s outfits after the more staid All-England Club is so delightful.
