Happy Friday! I hope you are well. I am currently recovering from my second shingles shot. I hope my side effects aren’t too bad! (I’m technically writing this before I actually got the shot so who can say? At any rate: shingles suck and I’m excited to be vaccinated against them! I had them in 2019 and it was THE WOOOOOORST.)

At Drinks With Broads this week, we covered Selena Gomez’s wedding and the Nicole Kidman/Keith Urban break-up. Thursday’s edition dove back into those waters, and also opened the DWB Low Level Complaint Corner. And, of course, we had a fresh new Only Murders in the Building recap.

Here at GFY, among other things, we rounded up fun Halloween stuff!

Also: Happy Taylor Swift Album Release Day if you celebrate! If you read this in time, Heather and I will be going live with Lainey from Lainey Gossip to discuss on Substack Live at 6pm Eastern. Join us here! (I might be absent depending on my Shingles Reaction.) I’m also excited to hear the take on this new album from our friend Abby at We Have Notes, my #1 source for all things T. Swift. Personally, I loved it — which is not a surprise, Taylor’s other Max Martin albums are some my favorites from her oeuvre. (I like a real poppy pop song, I’m sorry!!!)

So, so good: The 25 Most Influential Magazine Covers of All Time

A really interesting piece from Lainey about Bad Bunny doing the Super Bowl halftime show.

Heroic work from our friend Tara Ariano: Here’s Every Single Dull and Inane Thing Jimmy Fallon Says in the First Episode of ‘On Brand With Jimmy Fallon’. (I personally cannot stand Jimmy.)

This is such a good piece: ‘Twilight’ Is 20. These Books Will Remind You Why You Loved It So Much.

Oh gosh, Jane Goodall! What a run she had. We all learned a lot from her.

What a good piece about Trader Joe’s totes (but it’s not really about the totes).

Do you need new bras/undies? EBY is running their annual Buy One/Get One. I feel like everyone I know is obsessed with their Relief Bra — I AM interested in not wearing underwire, I can tell you that. I know Heather really likes their bras.

I love this: The quest for every Gap store playlist ever. (I love this Instagram and it’s great to read that The Gap is cool with this project.)

THIS IS COOL: Inside the Secret Workshop of the Louvre

This is old but it is also, I’d argue, a timeless piece: When Medieval Monks Couldn’t Cure the Plague, They Launched a Luxe Skincare Line

At Texas Monthly: “My First Murder: A legendary true crime writer revisits the case that launched his lifelong obsession. An exclusive excerpt from Skip Hollandsworth’s new book, She Kills.” Hollandsworth is a genius, I will definitely be buying this book. The piece he wrote that was made into Hit Man is AMAZING. (It is better than the movie. Although I liked the movie.)

A great salute to music video director extraordinaire Diane Martel, who sadly died recently. Even just directing “Genie in a Bottle” would have put her in the hall of fame, but “Genie in a Bottle” AND “All I Want For Christmas Is You”? Amazing.

Where is this Drive to Survive? Alba Hurup Larsen Is Racing to Break F1’s Glass Ceiling

This headline alone is great: Mariah Carey Really Didn’t Know Her.

Dr. Brandt lovers! I don’t usually post about Gift With Purchase deals (as much I love a GWP) but they’re offering this kind of insane one (complimentary). It’s EIGHT full-size best-sellers for $149 with any purchase, code GRATITUDE. This seems like the best place to note that Heather loves their neck cream, and I love Needles No More Wrinkle Smoothing Cream although, full disclosure, I also use needles.

Fascinating: Why one of Europe’s most iconic stadiums is to be demolished and rebuilt

CAN IT BE!?!? We Finally Have Free Anti-Robocall Tools That Work

I love this recipe: A Julia Child classic, remixed for fall

Really interesting: The New AI Tool That Could Change Breast Cancer Screenings for Women Under 40. No matter what your age, consider this your reminder to schedule your mammogram! And/or your colonoscopy! And/or your annual skin cancer check! Getting older has a lot of appointments!

This is a corker from Tina Brown: The Queen of the Power Scene Leaves the Party

Head’s up that J.Crew is running a 40% off Fall Sale. This isn’t included, but I do feel like some of you will want to know that they’ve made their rugbys in cashmere. I’m so tempted, but this sweater might be more of an actual wardrobe staple. And this turtleneck IS on sale and I’m going to order it. I somehow am OUT of turtlenecks, when a black turtleneck is truly foundational to my entire winter vibe. The 40% off from the sale stacks with the 20% OFF from using my J.Crew card — OBVIOUSLY I have a J.Crew card, it’s the one store card that actually ever made sense for me — and that was too much to resist.

I also had this question: Sorry to Ask, But Why Are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B Feuding Again? They really just need to block each other, this got messy. Also very complicated. Also, I guess people are still on Twitter when they want to fight?

This is really interesting and insightful: The Great Chickening.  People do sometimes just want to have a nice piece of chicken and not some weird, directional meal.

Neato: A Rare Medieval Hair-Styling Tool Was Found at Scotland’s Eilean Donan Castle

I was OBSESSED with this book as a child: It’s not easy being Queen, whether on Earth or in heaven.

A lot of you love Rothy’s; FYI that they now have fleece-lined clogs that look really cozy. (I have the normal clogs and really like them, but these are appealing because you can WASH THEM! The concern that the fleece might get gunky is why I never bought those fleece-lined Birks.)

Also: We have a couple of codes this week! The nice folks at UNTUCKit gave us 20% off with DWB20. (I did not know that they have women’s clothing until I showed up somewhere and Heather was wearing a very cute dress from them. I really want this striped button-down. [I HAVE ENOUGH STRIPED OXFORDS! Or do I?]) Also, our Elemis code is still working for 20% off; that one is FUGGIRLS20.

FINALLY — but crucially — it appears I will have to start watching 9-1-1 again:
