As I mentioned in our recent round-up of totes, if all goes well, I will be going to Italy in May. I’m very excited and — in the grand manner of people planning a vacation throughout time — currently feeling very shoppy. Planning trips is one of my favorite parts of vacationing; in another life, I would have enjoyed being a travel agent. (And I LOVE reading about what people pack for their trips — any trip! Always please tell me what you are packing.) In the course of thinking what I wanted to bring, I realized, I actually probably do need to buy some dresses with sleeves. It’s going to be warm, and almost all of my summer dresses are sleeveless in one way or the other, but this trip is going to involve going into a lot of churches and I will need to make sure my shoulders are covered. I always carry this scarf with me, so that will work in a pinch, but this seemed like a legitimate hole in my wardrobe and not a Hole In My Wardrobe I Invented to Have An Excuse to Buy Something, which I’m sure will come to pass eventually. (Although I am going to desperately try to pack light for this.)

The good news is that, for once, there are a LOT of Sleeved Spring Dresses out there (amid all the insane options; why do people keep trying to reinvent the dress?). I am pretty sure I’m going to pull the trigger on this linen one from Boden, although I also like this one from Boden, and THIS one from Boden, although that last one might be too long on me. (Boden is very good at dresses that seem like they’d work on a fantasy vacation.) This really cute white one at Old Navy is going fast. (Old Navy also has a ton of good stuff. Like this striped maxi-dress, which I just bought literally in the course of writing this post.)

Look at all these options!

As a note, as you’ll see, we’re using a new widget for these posts — I’m fiddling with the best one for the site, this is different than the one I used last week. Thanks for your patience while we futz with this sort of thing. (The widget itself will scroll to show you all the options.) Related, in case you missed it: We’ve got a Shop My storefront now! Shop My is our new affiliate shopping partner, which won’t change anything on your end, except it might actually be more useful to you because all the products we include in these shopping posts will live there too — so if you vaguely remember that you saw a dress or whatever on the site but can’t remember what or when that was, you can check there and hopefully find what you seek more easily going forward. (For example, here’s the Dresses and Skirts section, which we’re working on backfiling from older posts but will definitely be updated going forward. Logistics!!!!)

Like most websites, GFY uses affiliate links where available, which means we earn a little money if you click through and buy something. We can assure you that all items were personally chosen while we sat around drinking fizzy water and watching women’s college basketball. Go Bruins! Thank you for supporting us!
