And we’re back! We haven’t had a shopping post in a while but why not dive back in with an old favorite: The Tote. The holy tote. Just the other day, we were all discussing how none of us can resist one. I certainly can’t. But at the moment, I have an actual reason to potentially buy a new tote, besides just wanting one. If all goes well, I’m heading to Italy this spring for a belated honeymoon/50th birthday trip, and I honestly need a new carry-on tote. I usually use this Liberty London number (in a different colorway), which I LOVE, but it doesn’t zip up and I think I need something I can properly close for our two train voyages. Before I bought the Liberty bag, I used to carry this Le Pilage, which I of course bought on the recommendation of Kate Middleton. I love this tote as a carry-on — the size is great. However, mine is old and it’s getting a hole in the corner of the bottom of it. This is a known issue with these bags, and they will repair them for you! Honestly, that’s what I should do, if I’m being sensible. And I ran across an old — and I mean old, like from high school; as just noted, I am turning 50 – beach tote from the Gap when I was cleaning out a closet at my parents’ house, and I like the idea of using that, too. It’s seriously vintage.
But I still feel very shoppy about this issue. I’ve been considering just getting an LL Bean boat and tote that zips. (And maybe getting “carry on” monogrammed on it; it’s both a categorization and great advice.) And I’ve also eyeballing several of these, all of which zip closed, which can be hard to find (and which is not my usual preference):
As a note, as you’ll see, we’re using a new widget for these posts. You should be able to scroll left and right using the little grey arrow on each side, about halfway down the widget (look near the bottom corner of that LL Bean tote, for instance!). You should also just be able to scroll through it with your mouse/trackpad. Also: We’ve got a Shop My storefront now! Shop My is our new affiliate shopping partner, which won’t change anything on your end, except that it’s also very cool because all the products we include in these shopping posts will live there too — so if you vaguely remember that you saw a tote bag (or an eye cream or some tights or whatever) on the site but can’t remember what or when that was, you can check there and hopefully find what you seek more easily going forward.
